What is the “world’s response” to the issue of eating what you want?
I Tim 4 (v. 4) For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; (v. 5) for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
Does this mean that you can just eat anything that crawls onto your plate?
If we think that “giving thanks” for unclean foods will allow for sanctification to come upon you or your food, we should read what the Lord has said about this in:
Isa 66 (v. 17) They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord.
Some honest christians, suppose that “every” animal is fit to be eaten, if it is earnestly prayed over and blessed by the prayer of thanksgiving.
This would mean, that praying over a lizard, or a turtle, or a spider, would make it good for food. ( Does that make any sense to your mind? ) Let’s read verse 4 of First Timothy again:
I Tim 4 (v. 4) Says that “every creature of God is GOOD”
Notice that it does not say, “it is GOOD for food” only that “every creature of God is GOOD”
( English word = Good )
I Tim 4: 4 greek [ 2570 ] Kalos (kal-os’) = properly beautiful, but chiefly good, literally valuable or virtuous for appearance or use.[1]
Since there is nothing mentioned in the “root” word from the (greek) about “good for food” we can’t assume that every creature is good to eat.
Rather, this verse means that every creature has been made by God for a “good” purpose.
Let’s read verse 5 again:
I Tim 4 (v. 5) Says that “it is sanctified by the word of God”
So, the word of God must first approve it, and then the prayer of thanksgiving will sanctify it to be eaten.
It is also easy to find in the scriptures a description of the food that was sanctified by the word of God.
Gen 1 (v. 29) And God said: “see, I have given you every herb that yields seed....and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. (v. 31) Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.
So now the BIG question is, If God created all of the creatures on this planet to be vegetarians, then WHY did He allow the eating of the clean meats?
Lev 11 (v. 46) This is the law of the beasts.... (v. 47) to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, and between the animal that may be eaten and the animal that may not be eaten.
Everybody knows that there was a Great Flood that covered the earth and destroyed all life that did not get into the Ark.
Gen 6 (v. 14) Make yourself an ark of gopher wood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch. (v. 17) And behold, I Myself am bringing the flood of waters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; and everything that is on the earth shall die.
God gave Noah the exact dimensions of the ark and explicit directions in regard to its construction in every particular. Human wisdom could not have devised a structure of so great strength and durability. God was the designer, and Noah the master builder. It was constructed like the hull of a ship, that it might float upon the water, but in some respects it more nearly resembled a house.[2]
It was three stories high, with but one door, which was in the side. The light was admitted at the top, and the different apartments were so arranged that all were lighted. The material employed in the construction of the ark was the cypress, or gopher wood, which would be untouched by decay for hundreds of years. The building of this immense structure was a slow and laborious process.[2]
On account of the great size of the trees and the nature of the wood, much more labor was required then....All that man could do was done to render the work perfect, yet the ark could not of itself have withstood the storm which was to come upon the earth. God alone could preserve His servants upon the tempestuous waters.[2]
Gen 7 (v. 17) For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. (v. 19) They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. (v. 20) The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen cubits.
15 cubits = 23 feet = 6.8 meters ( over and above all of the mountains )
Gen 7 (v. 24) And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days.
150 days = 5 months = 0.41 years ( the amount of time that the earth was under water )
How long do you think, that the vegetation on the earth would live being under water for about 5 months? (some places on the earth were under water for up to 9 months).
So if there are no fruits and vegetables to eat, what would be their food?
Gen 7 (v. 1) Then the Lord said to Noah, "Come into the ark, you and all your household.... (v. 2) You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal....two each of animals that are unclean, a mail and his female...."
They were to start eating the flesh of the clean animals. Noah must have kept the seeds of various fruits and vegetables because, we read in the book of Genesis:
Gen 9 (v. 20) And Noah began to be a farmer, and he planted a vineyard.
What about the animals, what did they eat when they left the Ark?
The Bible indicates that as the Flood waters receded, the plants had already started re-growing.[3]
Gen 8 (v. 10) ....and again he sent the dove out from the ark. (v. 11) Then the dove came to him in the evening, and behold, a freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth; and Noah knew that the waters had abated from the earth.
Other ways that plants re-grew on the surface of the earth:
After leaving the Ark any seeds the animals ingested during their final days on the Ark could have passed through and then left on the ground in the animals’ excrement.[3]
Different types of seeds take various times to germinate in the new soil, one example:
Homeowners looking for something that grows in fast may want to turn to rye grass, which germinates in 5 to 10 days. However, rye grass is commonly used for foraging animals and grows tall and fast....It can also be affected by water, weather and soil conditions.[4]
During the Flood, some seeds could have been preserved or survived within other vegetation:
Floating vegetation could have contained many uprooted trees and other plants that could have survived and then re-grown once the Floodwaters receded (think, for example, water sprouts). The olive and many other trees and plants are propagated, even today, by asexual budding from planted cuttings.[3] So some seeds could have survived in this debris and their root systems just as Charles Darwin observed, “. . . .out of one small portion of the earth thus completely enclosed in by the roots of an oak about 50 years old, three dicotyledonous plants germinated. . . .”[5]
Also during the Flood, other seeds could have been preserved or survived within the carcass of dead animals that were floating on the water:
Many herbivorous animals died in the Flood and their carcasses could have floated as carrion on the surface of the waters holding and protecting seeds in their bodies.[3] Once again, Darwin made an astute observation: “Again, I can show that the carcasses of birds, when floating on the sea, sometimes
escape being immediately devoured: and many kinds of seeds in the crops of floating birds long retain their vitality. . . .but some taken out of the crop of a pigeon, which had floated on artificial sea-water for 30 days, to my surprise nearly all germinated.”[5]
The carnivore animals leaving the Ark could immediately eat the flesh of the dead animals that they found lying on the surface of the earth. Later on after the animals left the Ark by twos mated, then only could the species continue and more animals were available to be hunted down by the carnivore animals.
There was also another reason that God allowed the eating of flesh foods.
Gen 6 (v. 5) .... the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.... (v. 3) And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”
The maximum lifespan was to be 120 years old, for the rest of the human race!!!
It’s interesting to note that man’s early diet, as prescribed by God, is being heralded in medical circles today as the answer to many of our twentieth-century health problems. A national newsmagazine recently carried an article in which dietitians stated that the four food groups ought to be changed from the standard quad of meat, dairy, grains, and fruits/vegetable to legumes, fruit, vegetable, and grains. Man’s Genesis diet! Such a diet makes sense, when you look at the fact that the people before the flood lived to be more than nine hundred years old! After the flood, men and women began to eat meat, and their lifespans decreased markedly.[6]
Eating flesh foods caused the life expectancy of man to decrease, so as to slow down the rise of evil upon the earth.

The maximum age of man continued to drop significantly over the past few generations from the flood until it leveled out at 120 years of age.
Deut 34 (v. 7) Moses was 120 years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor abated (gone).
Moses was not ready to die, but when God says that He will limit man’s lifespan, then that is as far as you will go and no further.
Deut 34 (v. 8) And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. (v. 9) Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him....
Joshua 24 (v. 29) Now it came to pass....that Joshua the son of Nun....died being 110 years old.
