After you have finished with writing in the final list of your top highest spiritual gifts in ( Step 2 ) of the Multiple Assessments Info Sheet, we can now move to ( Step 3 ) and look at how useful Temperaments can be to discovering your place of ministry for the Lord.
In addition to using a spiritual gifts assessment, it is useful to compliment this with a Temperament Inventory.
Webster’s Dictionary defines temperament as:
Temperament— is the peculiar or distinguishing mental character. It is the characteristic or habitual inclination or mode of emotional response towards your environment.
A Temperament Inventory is also an invaluable tool to help with ministry placement.
For instance, since a "melancholy" person will most likely prefer behind-the-scenes planning or detail work, it would not be a good idea to place them in an up-front leadership position.
If you need greeters, you should probably look for someone who scored high in the "sanguine" category.
Xenos Christian Fellowship[1] has a free assessment to help you discover your Temperament by choosing the best word among 4 choices. (Click on the HTML Doc below to access the online assessment.)
After answering the questions, click on the “calculate score” button at bottom of page. Then obtain the “Total” scores for each temperament.
Record your scores in ( Step 3 ) of the "Multiple Assessments Information Sheet."
You can print a blank copy of the (M.A.I.) sheet from the "How to Discover your Spiritual Gifts" webpage.
It is often wise to get another perspective when deciding which ministry opportunity to go into. The Open-Source Psychometrics Project[2] has a free assessment, it is an open-source measure designed to match the taker to one of the four temperaments.
