Is there anything that we can trust in? Why He is trust worthy!
....Because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever. The fact that God is immutable is what makes Him eminently trustworthy.[1]
Webster's Dictionary:
Immutable--unchangeable, changeless, unchanging through time, unalterable
Eminently--highly, very, extremely
Num 23 (v. 19) God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
God cannot change, nor can His word....This eternal consistency is why God is faithful and why we can put our trust in Him.[1]
God is true. God is trustworthy. He speaks to men, and moves upon human hearts....God has been imparting light to His people in large measure....[2] But thank God we have the living oracles, the lamp of life, and he only is wise
who walks in the light. God cannot change the word that has gone out of His lips....[3] ....God does not change....[4]
Mal 3 (v. 6) For I am the Lord, I do not change....
We have a covenant relationship with God that we can count on being true. If God declares something to be true, you simply believe Him and live according to what is true.[5]
Isa 40 (v. 8) The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God stands forever.
Luke 16 (v. 13) No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
No man can be a [servant] to two masters. Now God wants us to be [servants] from the standpoint of our not needing to understand everything in order to believe. Why? Because what a person does must be of faith, for as Romans 14:23 puts it, “whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” This means that God enables us to constantly exercise our faith, since He doesn’t tell us about everything ahead of time.[7]
Sometimes depression reveals a faulty concept of God....with God all things are possible. He is the God of all hope. Turn to God when you are feeling down....[8]
Matt 19 (v. 26) But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
In our association with one another, we should take heed lest we forget Jesus, and pass along unmindful that He is not with us. When we become absorbed in worldly things so that we have no thought for Him in whom our hope of eternal life is centered, we separate ourselves from Jesus and from the heavenly angels. These holy beings cannot remain where the Saviour’s presence is not desired....This is why discouragement so often exists among the professed followers of Christ....By separating themselves from Jesus, they have shut away the light of His presence.[9]
Isa 41 (v. 10) Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
We never have to go through difficult times alone. The ever-present Christ is there. He will not forsake us or leave us to face life’s overwhelming challenges alone. What assurance are we given when we go through difficult days? Read in the book of Hebrews.[10]
Heb 13 (v. 5) ....be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Life's events don't determine who you are; God determines who you are, and your interpretation of life's events determines how well you will handle the pressures of life....That is why it is so important that you fill your mind with the knowledge of God and His word. You need to see life from God's perspective and respond accordingly.[11]
Prov 16 (v. 1) To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue. (v. 2) All a man’s ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord. (v. 3) Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. (v. 4) The Lord works out everything for his own ends....
***** What kind of a life would you live if you believed what you felt instead of the truth? *****[11]
The order of scripture is to know the truth, believe it, live accordingly by faith, and let your emotions be a product of your trust in God and your obedience to Him.[11]
Psm 103 (v. 19) The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.
We have to believe that our new identity is in the life of Christ and commit ourselves to grow accordingly.[12]
Col 3 (v. 3) For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (v.4) When Christ who is our life....
The Christian life is Christ living His life in and through the believer. The life of Christ is reproduced in the child of God by the power of the Holy Spirit.[13]
Gal 2 (v. 20) I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me....
That is why the old nature has to completely die and the new divine nature invited in, to create something that we human beings are utterly incapable of producing within ourselves.…from that first breath to the final one, self will not only continue to manifest itself, but will grow larger and consider itself more important every step of the way, unless the Lord Jesus is invited to dwell within. This self-centeredness cannot be changed without a new source of life.[14]
II Cor 5 (v. 17) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
....really believing will affect one's walk and one's talk. If we believe God and His Word, we will live accordingly. Everything we do is essentially a product of what we have chosen to believe.[15]
Prov 23 (v. 7) For as he thinks in his heart, so is he....
You can't live beyond what you believe....Your christian walk is the direct result of what you believe....People may not always live what they profess, but they will always live what they believe.[16]
Heb 11 (v. 6) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Walking by faith is simply choosing to believe what God says is true and to live accordingly by the power of the Holy Spirit.[17]
