More about "legal rights" that demons use

( page 1A )

When we open doors to the enemy, we give the devil legal rights over that part of our life, creating strongholds that need to be broken.…An open door is when we step out of the will of God and so give the devil a legal right to have the upper hand over us.[1]

I Pet 5  (v. 8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Doorways are opened to demons when a believer steps out of submitting his mind and/or body to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.  When a believer sins in this way and does not choose to turn to God in repentance, he then becomes open for demonic attack and dominion.[2]

The number one act of a consistent sin that gives the devil a “legal right” to your life, is the sin of harboring unforgiveness towards someone who has hurt you or offended you.  And many times it was the strategies of the demons that caused that hurtful encounter, just so they could exploit it for their use at a later time.

.…forgiveness is necessary to avoid entrapment by satan.  I have discovered from my counseling that unforgiveness is the number one avenue satan uses to gain entrance to believers lives.  I have had the privilege to help people around the world find their freedom in Christ.  In every case, forgiveness was an issue and in many cases it was the issue that needed to be resolved.[3]

II Cor 2  (v. 9) For to this end I also wrote, that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things. (v. 10) Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive.  For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ, (v. 11) lest satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

You see, when people hurt you or attack you, the tendency is to focus the anger, hurt, and pain against the person.  However, as you read this manual you will learn that actually, people are used by demons, as victims and casualties of war, to hurt and victimize you.  This allows you to have  forgiveness and compassion on those who hurt, abuse, molest, and attack you.  If you have unforgiveness toward anyone, you are not struggling with the one you should be: the demons![4]

Heb 12  (v. 14) Pursue peace with all men, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord; (v. 15) looking diligently lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;

Some of you seem to be earnestly seeking for forgiveness of sins, for freedom in God.  Do you deserve the pardon that you are seeking?--No, you do not; nevertheless, God is willing to grant it freely.  And dare you withhold from your brethren the forgiveness and affection of which you do not think them worthy?  Would you have God deal thus with you?  Deal with your brethren as you wish God to deal with you.[5]

If we expect our prayers for forgiveness to be heard, we must offer them in a forgiving spirit.  We must forgive others in the same manner, and to the same extent, that we ourselves hope to be forgiven.  The hard-heartedness that professed Christians manifest toward one another is not Christ-like, but savors of the satanic.  We must every one of us open our hearts wide to the love of Jesus, and encourage pity and affection for our brethren.[5]

Matt 6  (v. 14) For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. (v. 15) But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Unforgiveness: Giving away your authority....The one biggest cause of demonization in a believer....is unforgiveness.  Let’s look at Mathew 18....Many overlook this verse.  The demons are pictured as jailers.  They legally have a right to torment a person until the person repents.  God is very serious about holding any unforgiveness toward another person.[6]

Matt 18  (v. 23) Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. (v. 26) The servant therefore fell down before him, saying: “Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.” (v. 27) Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.

(Verse 28) But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him.... (v. 29) So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying: “Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.” (v. 30) And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt.

(Verse 32) Then his master, after he had called him, said to him: “You wicked servant!  I forgave you all that debt....(v. 33) Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?  (v. 34) And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. (v. 35) So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.

Forgiveness is what sets us free from the past.  What is to be gained in forgiving is freedom.  You don’t heal in order to forgive.  You forgive in order to heal.[7]
