The Incredible Good News of the Gospel

Lesson 1: Why You Need a Savior
Most people think they are sinners because they have committed sins; but the fact is we commit sins because we are born sinners. The only hope of escaping this universal sin problem is Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.

Lesson 2: The Love of God
It is hard for many to understand how God can save them while they are sinners. As a result, most people are running away from God out of fear. For this reason, it is important for all to realize that the reason God redeemed mankind in Christ is because of His unconditional love for us, not our goodness.

Lesson 3: The Truth as It is In Christ
God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to this world to be the Savior of mankind. Everything that the Bible offers mankind, with regard to our salvation, it does so in Christ. The “in Christ” concept is based on Biblical solidarity, the idea that all mankind constitute or share a common life. The truth expressed by this phrase is also expressed by other similar phrases such as “in Him,” “together with Him,” “in the Beloved,” “in whom,” etc. All these phrases express the same “in Christ” idea or motif.

Les. 3 (Supplement): The Two Adams
We receive the life of Adam automatically when we are conceived. All that Adam’s life has to offer is what became of it after the Fall – the promise of toil, hardship, slavery to sin, and death. Our status as children of God is not automatic, because God will not force salvation upon us against our will. Christ received humanity unto Himself at the incarnation, and we must likewise receive Christ by faith.

Lesson 4: The Supreme Sacrifice of Christ
At the very heart of the gospel message is the supreme sacrifice of Christ. However, it is Satan's determined purpose to engulf this truth of the cross in darkness. By convincing the Christian church to believe the lie that humans possess immortal souls, he has robbed the cross of its glory. The idea that humans possess immortal souls is not Biblical but a Greek concept introduced into the Christian church by the Church Fathers.

Lesson 5: The Cross of Christ
Legally, no law – God's or man's – will allow an innocent person to die in the place of the guilty one. How then could Christ, who committed no sin, legally die for the sins of the guilty world? This is the great ethical issue that surrounds the cross of Christ. Unless we clearly understand how God solved this problem, we will never be able to fully appreciate the good news of the gospel or experience its total power to save us from our sin problem.
